From Frankfort to Beulah it is non-motorized. All of it is excellent for bicycles and pedestrian use. The 6 miles from Frankfort to Mollineaux Rd. is asphalt and is good for roller blading. From Beulah to Thompsonville (13 miles) the compacted aggregate trail is open to snowmobiles from December through March.

The 15,000 acres of North Manitou Island are (with some exceptions) managed as a wilderness area, and the island is home to numerous species of hawks and eagles. Manitou Island Transit provides regular ferry service to both islands for campers and day trips to South Manitou.

Our screen tower was widened in the late 1950's to accept the "New" phenomenon, "Cinemascope," a larger aspect ratio than was previously available. Look closely during our "Vintage" cartoons to see the size of movies before cinemascope. Our sound system consists of the original vacuum tube motiograph amplifiers, that still power our speakers at the speaker posts. We have also added the option of FM Radio sound so you can hear the entire sound track of the pre-show, feature and vintage footage through your own in car stereo system.
