Food Scene

A new Ypsi hot spot. Incredible fried chicken, sourced from Amish farmers. Enjoy three spice levels but beware - "Medium" is very spicy! You may want to try a mix of Southern (plain) and Medium to help cut the spice. For the REALLY brave, try their "Spicy AF" which is true to its name!

A gem that you might miss while strolling through Depot Town. A wonderful, thoughtful menu (with great vegetarian choices), amazing craft cocktails! Great atmosphere for dining, though it can get pretty lively in the evenings (in a good way)! Happy hour specials often include 50% off wine bottles (woohoo!). Small nice patio in the back. Highly recommend! Their menu changes often - check it out at http://ollieypsi.com/.

Amazing, hand-crafted ice cream! A very tiny place - you can get right up close to see their equipment! Good luck deciding on a flavor... ;)

It may not look like much, but this place is widely known as THE donut place in Washtenaw County. Now, people in Ann Arbor will tell you to go to Dimo's, but it's only because they haven't come across this hidden gem! Bonus - they're open 24 hours, so you can get fresh donuts and coffee any time of the day or night.

FRESH roasted coffee beans sourced from farmers that they work directly with all over the world. This spot, tucked away behind the Food Co-op, is a coffee roastery but you can also pull up a stool and enjoy some of their fresh brews there. Hankering for a very specific brew? Let them be your coffee match-makers to help you find exactly what you're craving.

Parks & Nature

A large open park just steps from Depot Town, where you can sit beside the Huron River or stroll along the paved path. A beautiful spot for a picnic! Also the site of the legendary Ypsi Beer Festival, Ypsi Fest, Elvis Fest, and more!

Shopping

A quirky gem in downtown Ypsi! A toy store that has lots of fun stuff for adults, too, including Michigan swag, and gifts for that friend who's obsessed with... Marvel characters, Dr. Who, Buffy, or any other fandom you can name!

A very cute and well-curated shop that just opened downtown. They've got stuff for your unicorn-crazed kids at the front of the store (costumes! stickers! crafts! stuffies!), and stuff for YOU at the back (home wares, accessories, clutches, and more). Feminist and queer-friendly!

Interested in home renos, architecture, or unique historical stuff? This place is a HUGE architectural salvage store that is packed full of vintage details large and small, including light fixtures, furniture, mouldings, mantles, bathtubs, stained glass, metalwork, and pretty much everything else you can imagine being rescued from a vintage house! They are very friendly and welcoming even if you just want to look around. And very knowledgeable if you have questions about a particular historic period. Bonus: if you're lucky, you can see their chihuahua who reeeally enjoys the attention.

Drinks & Nightlife

This place is a must-do in Ypsi! They have a huge space to relax and try the many draft beers on tap - many of which you can only get at this location! Fantastic patio. Great food also, with a menu that changes every day. The hottest night here is Wednesday Trivia night - lots of fun, but you have to get there early to get a table! No table service - order food and brews at the bar.
