Perfect place for a coffee and a book. Lots of great finds including used books and a space to read that's quiet and semi-secluded. A fireplace too for those cold winter days!

This is Thai food done right, the atmosphere is nothing special -- so this is your perfect take out option close to home (literally around the corner on West St -- make a right!). And of course MUST TRY the donuts! You can walk over in your PJs and be back in under 5 minutes. Unless they're slammed. (My son and I do it all the time)

Such great food, one of my favorites in Eastport (quick drive). Small plates, farm to table, and great atmosphere and service. Lovely wine, and they don't take reservations so be prepared to hang out at the bar while you wait or better yet, go there for lunch!

Great little place to have a healthy & budget-friendly lunch, not a ton of room to sit inside, but ideal to sit out in the sun...

On the upscale side, this bistro is perfect for a fancy dinner, or for a less formal affair, enjoy the upstairs bar. Nice wine selection, and great atmosphere.

Lots of little historic homes, and some larger remodeled ones, compete for attention in the Eastport peninsula. Pretty gardens, a tight community centered around outdoor activities like sailing, paddle boarding, walking dogs, etc. Great restaurants to boot! (Carrol's Creek; Chart House; Boatyard; Davis' Pub and more)

Downtown is very lively, easy to walk; parking can be tricky but not too difficult except during prime season and special events. Lots of historic homes up and down King George and Prince George Streets, as well as all around the Capitol building.

Lots of action in the evenings particularly around the weekend, different foods options, drinks too, and board games! (Just by the harbor at the bottom of Main St)

Walking downtown? Try all the routes!

Walk West Street down, OR take the Popal Trail, cross Taylor Ave (at the Police station) and continue your walk on the hotel access road, which leads you back up to West St (via parking ramp) OR walk towards the stadium, circle around either way and follow Rowe Blvd into town (optional: loop through St John's College!). And if you want to take the long way, you can make it a great run too (check my other tip!).

Running to town

walk through the Boys & Girls Club (cross West Street, turn right towards Russell St, away from town), keep walking until you reach the athletic fields, follow the path, cross West St into the Bates Athletic fields, follow the path down and around, cut through Murray Hill (Academy St, Monticello Ave, Farragut, Southgate, etc).
