Shorebirds are found in the cove and migrating song birds in the woods. Several varieties of frogs are in the ponds and can be heard between March and August at sunset. Of course, there are a large number of mammals as well.

A casual place to enjoy some local seafood specialties is the Portside Restaurant located in Pt judith. Clam cakes and chowder are very good and they have a variety of other fish and shellfish dishes too. Littlenecks are soft shell clams served with melted butter that you can dip them in and they are also served fried as well. Our local hardshell ckams are called Quahogs and they are delicious. They can be eaten raw on the half shell or steamed. They also make "Stuffies" with them too which are chopped quahogs mixed with a bread stuffing and seasonings baked in a large quahog half shell. They are great too with some hot sauce or just as is. Clams casino is another popular dish which us a smaller quahog baked with a little stuffing and a crispy piece of bacon on top.

CoastGuard House - great place and location on the seawall/ocean, upstairs outdoor deck for cocktails and lunch and inside great views from all around, good selection of seafood and meats, reservations accepted, very busy but always gets great reviews too.
