walking/hiking

the bosque is a state wildlife preserve along the Rio Grande River, featuring ancient cottonwood trees, shade, and lots of walking paths along the river. From my place, you can find parking and walk north or south at the intersection of Bridge Boulevard and the Rio Grande River (you can park for free on the east side of the bridge in the National Hispanic Cultural Center parking lot, for example). A burqueño favorite!

Deslocar-se

walk on the acequias (ditches) by the house!

these are irrigation ditches that are essentially a secondary road system in albuquerque. there, you will see horses, donkeys, dogs, peacocks, egrets, ducks, sheep and baby goats as you stroll along. the one closest to the house is called the 'hubbell acequia,' and you can access it by going south on joe sanchez rd./turning right as you exist the gate, and then hang a left on barcelona road, at the elementary school. walk along barcelona for about 500 yards, and you'll see a dirt trail traversing the road. turn left to go north on the ditch, or right to go south. both are beautiful!
