Only a stones throw from us, you can almost see the factory from ours. Sandford Orchards is a must visit for all cider drinkers. They have a well stocked bar on site with lagers, ciders, ales, soft drinks. Factory tours are available as well as the food on selected evenings. It is one of the oldest cider works in the country

Hanlons Brewery produces high quality real ales and has a restaurant on site so you can try their beers as well as eating some gorgeous grub! It is approximately 5 miles from the Old Dairy, but a bus from the end of our road regularly goes past the entrance to the brewery, and there is a bus stop opposite so transport is virtually door to door.

If you catch the train from Crediton, alert the guard that you want to get off at Newton St Cyres and check which carriage to be in - its a request only stop. Then its possible to catch the train back or walk into the village for the bus, or walk back - about 5.5 miles. Booking for a meal at the Beer Engine is essential - its that good!

A really lovely pub and micro brewery - the ales are first class - as well as some really high quality food served in a relaxing setting, right next to the railway (hence the name!) If you catch the train from Crediton, alert the guard that you want to get off at Newton St Cyres and check which carriage to be in - its a request only stop. Then its possible to catch the train back or walk into the village for the bus, or walk back - about 5.5 miles. Booking for a meal at the Beer Engine is essential - its that good!
Lovely food, a walkable distance from the Old Dairy (2 miles, with hills footpaths most of the way), Sandford is a quaint village and the pub is small and olde worlde - booking is highly recommended.

The Wetherspoons in Crediton, you know what you are going to get and a short walk from the Old Dairy. If you sit at Table 10 you will find the story of St Boniface, born in Crediton, and the finding of the first Christmas tree!
