The first chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Vitória was founded in 1556 by the Brotherhood of the same invocation, next to the old Hospital de Santa Ana. Destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, its reconstruction began in 1765, and ended only in 1824.

The Church of São Nicolau and São Julião is located in downtown Lisbon between Rua de S. Nicolau, Rua da Prata and Rua dos Douradores. The Church of São Nicolau was built at the beginning of the 13th century, having been founded between 1209 and 1229 and rebuilt in the same century, in 1280, on the initiative of Bishop D. Mateus. After several rebuildings, it underwent its most important change in the 1870s due to the 1755 earthquake.
