Food Scene

A really great Spanish restaurant, serving excellent tapas and traditional Spanish food, with a great range of sherries too. It gets booked up fast at weekends and peak times so worth booking in advance.

Drinks & Nightlife

Despite being part of a small chain, the Ocho Lounge feels like a one off. Quirky decor, good burgers, small plates and excellent all day brunches. There's a courtyard garden to the rear, which is great for warmer weather.

Entertainment & Activities

Although it does have a cinema, Penarth Pier is more than a movie theatre. Entrance to the pier and the recently restored pavilion is free and you can walk out over the waves, and spot Ilfracombe on a clear day.

Parks & Nature

Cosmeston Country Park is built around the lakes left by a former quarry. It's a favourite spot for families, dog-walkers and bird-watchers and you can use the on site barbecue facilities, or have a really good ice cream in the cafe. A lovely spot for picnics. Free parking and entrance.

This Edwardian park is great for a wander around - there's an aviary, some wonderful topiary and a fish pond and fountain. With lots of benches, you can pick a spot to look out to sea, or follow the paths through the park down to the seafront.
