You mightn't have come to Portugal to eat pizza but this pizza is the best you will find! Run by a Portuguese couple who have combined a high end interior design outlet and an Italian restaurant everything about this place is pure class. Can get very busy so would recommend calling ahead but well worth the wait!

Some nights only chicken and chips will do! This is the busiest spot in town .. take away or sit down ... great to pick up after a long day out on the beach!

For some of the best local food you can eat at unbeatable prices. Jugs of wine, freshly caught fish, TVs on in the corner and packed to the rafters with locals. You would be pushed to spend more than €15/head!

A beautiful old bakery which produces cakes from carobs (A local tree which looks like dried up bananas are hanging from it) ... Fantastic substitute to chocolate - if not better!! They produce cakes here which are sold all over Portugal and overseas! It is on a beautiful walk which takes about 45min in a loop from the house. Lovely half way treat!

Loulé is famous for it's Saturday morning gypsy market ... It also has a really good daily market in the Arabian style market hall on Praça da República (open every morning except Sunday). Lovely local crafts and shops ... without all the tackiness of the coast

Old Town Faro is surrounded by a 9th Century Roman wall beautiful streets to explore ... one hidden gem is the Marina shopping center ... although it doesn't look like much from the outside ... take the escalator to the top floor and you will be greeted by the freshest of fish Portugal has to offer! The wonderful sales men and woman are all more than happy to help you make your purchase and clean out the fish if you require. Don't forget to ask for a bag of ice! My advice go straight for the sardines!

Head towards Alportel and at the cross road follow the road under the arch … head on for about a kilometer and you will be in beautiful rural Portugal on a dirt track with only wild black pigs for company

Set in the ruin of an old castle right on the edge overlooking the sea .. O Castelo is a great spot for people watching. Depending on the night of the week they could have various different live music or salsa dancers! Filled with Portuguese relaxing on their holidays! Great for a sun set too!
