Its a must go place when you visit Mombasa. It's always packed, so be there at 12:30pm, no reservations required. If you find it's full, you can always try Barka restaurant (not far from Tarboush) which has similar Swahili meals.

Bars and Clubs are plenty in Mombasa, from the city centre to Nyali to Mtwapa.
Great music, there is a bit of room to dance but if you would like to catch up with the local nightlife scene, this is a nice place. Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest especially at the end of the month.

Arts & Culture

The Swahili culture is from a mixture of Arab and Bantu African culture. Mombasa was a hub in the 12th century because of it's ports. This culture was also influenced by the Portuguese, you can learn more about the culture by visiting 2 historical places, Old Town and Fort Jesus.
It represents the Swahili culture, they have beautiful carved doors. Its characterized by narrow streets and lovely intricate doors. If you love architecture, this is the time to unleash your camera, if you love shopping for antiques, there are shops and souvenirs. Old Town is close to Fort Jesus.
