This is truly a foodie place. The owner and chef makes every single dish. The pasta is not only home made but the flour is ground in house. Every detail is thought of. Amazing wine selection. Incredibly cheese selection. Hands down, the best place to eat in Old Town.

Vermilion was host to the Obamas for Valentine's Day dinner a few years back. It has a lovely scene and wonderful menu. All of the food is farm sourced and fresh. The bar is actually my favorite place to sit and eat. The cocktails and hand crafted and unique.

You can find the Majestic by looking for its iconic neon sign out front. This restaurant has wonderful American food and a great bar menu. Be sure to order the coconut cake for dessert!

Hard Times is our locally owned chili joint. If you've never been, they will start you off with a tasting dish so you can choose your favorite. It's cheap, quick and a legend in Alexandria. Def place to hit while you are in town.

This is the BEST cupcake place in town! The locals know how to find it. The cupcakes are made from local and organic ingredients (Polyface farm eggs)! And the flavors are amazing. Hen Quarter has a fried chicken and waffle dish that I could eat every single Sunday for brunch. The chicken is battered and fried to perfection and the savory waffle has jalapeno and corn in it. Amazing. Recommend reservations for Saturday and Sunday brunch times. It gets busy!

Vola's is on our waterfront and has wonderful views. The food is also on point. I love this as a lunch spot on the weekend. If the weather is nice, be sure to sit outside on the docks.

The Sushi Bar is both bar and sushi restaurant. It is adult only. While the drinks alone are worth the trip, the sushi is unbelievable. I recommend getting the sushi dinner, which features their aged soy sauce. This place deserves a ton of praise for their rice preparation and fresh high quality fish.

Nasime was voted best restaurant in Northern VA and it is on the same block as our apartment! It is a set dinner, all the choice of the chef / owner. There is little to no signage out front, so only the locals know about it! Make reservations though...

Captain Gregory's is the secret bar inside of the Sugar Shack. I'd recommend making reservations ahead of time (they are now on Open Table). The atmosphere is wonderful and while the cocktails are impeccable and pricey, this speakeasy isn't pretentious at all. One of my favorite places to drink in Old Town.
