Drinks & Nightlife

Its a great local a few minutes walk from the property. Sells a decent range of beers, whiskies and wines. It also does decent range of local Scottish food in the bar and restaurant. If you want a more Whisky based bar, head into Union Street for The Grill which has the best range of Whiskies in Aberdeen in a lovely old traditional bar. For a busier type of nightlife head into town (Belmont Street. etc) If you want some decent food but don't want to head into town the food in The Pam Court is also good option. A few minutes walk from the property and you can eat either in the Bar (no kids after 9pm I think) or the Restaurant. The menu is good and has local Scottish dishes.

Parks & Nature

There is a nice walk from the property to Hazelhead Park or it is a short drive away. There is a great kids play park, a pets corner with a decent range of animals for small kids (rabbits, donkeys, chickens, some reptiles and fish. My kids loved it when they were younger), a Piper Alpha disaster memorial garden, a cafe, loads of tree and flowers to admire and a big maze to get lost in!

Bordering the property to the back is the beautiful Johnson Gardens. The one hectare site was gifted to the City in 1936 and has streams, waterfalls, ponds, rockeries and rustic bridge. The garden is planted with rhododendrons, spring bulbs, heathers and alpines. And the ponds are full of irises and home to a number of aylesbury, mallard and muscovy ducks.

My kids love this park. Has 3 kids play parks, a great zip wire at the bottom play park, a winter gardens for when it rains with lots of nice plants from around the world, terrapins, large fish, and a giant puddock (Doric (local Aberdeen dialect) term for a frog!), and a speaking cactus for the younger kids (only speaks during certain times so google for times!)!

Not my thing but half of Aberdeens population seem to hang out around there. Has load of chain stores for clothes, etc (Apple etc) and chain restaurants (Pizza Hut, Nandos, TGI Fridays, Zizis, etc); including a really nice Thai restaurant. Handmade Burger company is a nice pace to eat Also has the Vue Cimena and enclosed parking which is handy if the weather is not good....

Food Scene

Good for good quality local Scottish food. Can get busy on weekends so maybe expect a wee wait...if this is too bust there are other places along the beach to eat like The Pavillion and others!
