It's part of 5 Terre. We have the first news of Riomaggiore only in 1251, when the inhabitants of the district of Carpena, spread coast, swore faith to the Republic of Genova. Between 1200 and 1300 the inhabitants of these settlements decided to go down towards the sea and give llife to the village. A movement which was favoured by the consolidation of the genovese rule which consented to a more tranquil access to the sea on which commerce could develop quickly and safely.

Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola e Riomaggiore possono essere raggiunte dalla stazione di La Spezia Centrale comodamente in treno. Sconsigliamo l’uso dell’automobile perchè ci sono davvero pochissimi parcheggi e sono molto cari. Monterosso è la meta con la spiaggia più ampia e offre molte possibilità di ristorazione. Nel periodo Luglio-Settembre le Cinque Terre sono particolarmente affollate di turisti, consigliamo quindi di raggiungerle in prima mattina.
