A tram/cable car that takes you to Midtown East in five minutes. Enjoy the view from above the river and the streets of Manhattan! An amazing 360 view of the east side. Metrocards are accepted.

If you want to visit the Roosevelt Island I strongly recommend you to take the Tramway. Walk West to 7th Ave take the red line 1 Van Cortlandt Stop in Times Sq - 42 St Change to Yellow line N, R or W to Lexington Av/59 St. walk to 2 nd Ave and you can take the Tramway. The 4 minute ride, which offers spectacular views to its passengers, has been praised in the New York Times as "the most exciting view in New York City!" It costs a mere $2.25 each way ($4 for a round trip) and students with tram permits ride free.

Fabulous views of Manhattan while you're suspended over the east river for the price of a subway ride.

Take a quick tram ride over to Roosevelt Island for an exciting view of the Manhattan skyline. You can turn around immediately, but it is well worth going for a quick stroll past the ruins of the old Smallpox Hospital and enjoy the beautiful public park on the southern tip of the island (Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park).
