Food Scene

Famed for their beef brisket sandwich or plate, but everything is amazing here, like the Kale Caesar Salad (add brisket or fried polenta) or the Country Bowl. Serve beer and wine, and sell it too along with hipster bodega grocery essentials like ice cream pints and cheese and crackers.

Cafe bakery that makes amazing croissants on weekends, the best quiche I've ever had all week long, and has friendly and super artisanal baristas. People make this their laptop office.

Brewery and pub food. A regionally famous brewpub. If people don't know where we live, we say "we live two blocks from Breakside Brewery" and everyone says, "ohhh yeahhhh." Great wings, world famous IPA.

Upscale Italian featuring wood-fired pizzas. Reservations are a good idea but sometimes you can walk-in: super pretty patio seating in sunny weather (late spring-fall)

Killer Mexican food; tamales, tacos, and specialty bowls and plates. Awesome Orchata, and there's a gelato place and a meed bar next door.

CAMPANA is the new name for “Grand Army Tavern.” This is my FAVORITE local restaurant. Best and most authentic Italian pasta, entrees and small plates in town. I always start with a Negroni Spagliatto and move on to a classic Negroni. The bar seating has happy hour all day but the main pasta entrees should be a focus.

My favorite nearby brunch spot. Try Grits in the Garden: a bed of jalapeño cheese grits covered in sautéed veggies with two eggs and scratch made hollandaise sauce. The place next door, Tin Shed, is more popular but… food not as good.
