  • Caminhada em Cambridge
Our walking tour takes in some of the famous colleges and historic sights of the city as you meander down quaint alleyways and tread the cobbled streets. You will hear quirky facts and stories of the colleges and their colourful alumni, all set within the context of English and world history, plus many fascinating tales of city life through the ages not generally mentioned in the guide books. We will take you to a church 1000 years old and reveal it’s hidden secret, down side streets to places of interest visitors don't normally see. You will go back in time to medieval Cambridge to discover how the University all started, visiting colleges over 700 years old and hearing their history. We will show you what it is to experience life as a student in a Cambridge College. All our tours are unique as we specialise in small groups and encourage interaction and questions. Highlights of our walking tour include The Senate House, The Colleges of Gonville & Caius, Trinity, St John’s, Kings, Clare, Corpus Christie, Pembroke, Peterhouse and Queens. St Benet's church, an unusual clock, the historic Eagle pub, The Cavendish Labs, and the Mathematical Bridge Other things to note As it's a walking tour, on city streets, just be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and be sure to dress for the English Climate.

  • Aprenda a preparar remédios com uma mestra herbalista
Making Your Own Herbal Remedies ... Herbs are the oldest form of medicine. Did you know that one of the first medicines, Aspirin was created in 1897 from a plant called meadowsweet? Your host Melanie is a passionate Master Herbalist who's worked with natural medicine for 25 years. Clavering is first found in the 11th century as Claefring, meaning ‘the place where the clover grows’, and what better way to both discover this beautiful Medieval village and its local flora, than to go for a walk? So we begin by following one of the lovely nature trails in this historic village and weather dependant, we will spend our time outside walking and stopping often to discuss many of the common wild plants en route. During our walk we will also be foraging some of the plants we find to make a tasty cup of fresh medicinal herbal tea with Melanie's expert guidance. You'd be amazed at the world of medicine and nutrition all around us. We will learn more about the special properties each herb offers us and ways you can prepare them. You will leave having been immersed in Nature and seeing the 'weeds' around you in a new light.. and you'll be empowered to create your own natural, effective medicine to improve your health and wellbeing, as well as that of your family and friends. You also take home a handout with essential info on the plants we find and how to create natural remedies! Other things to note If you have difficulty walking distance or other mobility issues, we can adapt the experience to accommodate you, if you discuss this with your host prior to booking. All the herbs we will use will be safe for anyone. Limited to small groups (up to 8 people) for maximum benefit and enjoyment.

  • Carriage-Driving in the Countryside
I will meet my guests at the riding school where our driving horses are. I will give them a safety briefing. Then we will bring our lovely Haflinger, Bruce, in from the field and give him his hay and a brush. Guests will learn how to harness the horse, and put him into the carriage. We will put on hi-vis jackets. Guests will sit up at the front of the carriage with me, and with their own set of reins so they learn to control the horse (a bit like dual-control in a car). We will drive round the village of Furneux Pelham at a walk and trot, for forty minutes, passing the church, the school, the old forge, the pub, and will arrive back at the Riding School. We will unharness the horse, give him a nice feed and put him back in his field. We will enjoy hot and cold drinks and snacks before we head home. The whole experience will take two hours. Other things to note There are around 30 ponies and horses, two friendly dogs, several sheep and three cats at the riding school. We provide optional riding hats (which we recommend). It is best to be quite quiet around horses. We make every effort to make you safe but please be aware Carriage-Driving is a risk sport.
