With its own private entrance, the apartment is full of character, with luxurious touches and modern appliances - a welcoming and comfortable place to return to after your day out. In addition to this we are next door to the village pub, where you can relax with a drink in the beer garden, have a meal or chat with locals. The pub also has a small shop for essential supplies. The open plan living/kitchen area is well equipped with a large flat screen, Smart TV for relaxing in the evening, plus a Bluetooth speaker for your music and free wi-fi. If you like to cook the kitchen/dining area facilities include an induction hob, full size oven, large fridge-freezer and dishwasher. There is also a washer-dryer should you need it, and heating for the colder months. The bedroom is decorated in a relaxing French style with a king-size bed, luxurious linen, and an en-suite shower room. If you are bringing your dog with you there is an enclosed outdoor courtyard area for convenience, which also has a covered storage area for bicycles/kayak. The nearest town is the historic market town of Helston (4 miles), famous for its Spring celebration - Flora Day. The thriving and pretty coastal town of Falmouth is a short drive (for visitors to the University campus, it is only a 10min drive) and the beautiful port of Porthleven with its many fine restaurants is also within a 15-20minute drive. Nearby is the stunning coastline of The Lizard Peninsula, or you could travel towards the evocative and mysterious landscape of West Penwith, stopping to visit St Michaels Mount on your way to unforgettable St Ives and beyond. West Cornwall has so many stunning places to visit, that we hope you will want to return time and again.
The apartment is in the village of Porkellis, close to art and culture, restaurants, a beach, and family-friendly activities. West Cornwall is known for its heathland, golden sand, artists' colonies, ancient stone circles, and Iron Age villages.

Obrigado novamente, Abby, Aston e Little Nito xx

Esperamos poder voltar no futuro.

    Marit2019-07-19T00:00:00Z

Sloe Barn is a 200 year old rustic, open plan, top floor only, basic barn conversion in the heart of the wild and stunning North Cornish coast. 1.5 miles from Porthtowan beach, it's set within a working family home and smallholding with log burner, sofas and king size bed.
Sloe Barn is an ancient and rustic barn, the top half of which is partially converted into a basic, large, open plan room with log burner and slate hearth in one corner surrounded by 2 snuggly sofas. You will find a fridge, kettle and toaster (no kitchen/cooking facilities) and large pine farmhouse table, a comfy king size bed with feather and down duvet/pillows and a basic en-suite shower room with electric shower, loo and hand basin. The basin currently has only cold water but there is hot water from the electric shower permanently. (plans to put in a hot water tap soon!) The walls are traditional bare Cornish granite. The barns is double glazed and its sole heating is with the 9kw log burner but there is an oil fired radiator should you get chilly. Towels, breakfast of granola/fruit/bread for toasting, tea/coffee making facilities and log burner starter kit all provided along with access to wifi. You are more than welcome to have a glass of wine in the garden/field of an evening if you so choose but we prefer it to be mainly a place for you to spend the night as this part of Cornwall has so much to offer during the day, but all within reason of course - you are more than welcome to eat breakfast in one of the many nooks and crannies of the various gardens! The views from the top of the barn steps over the valley and fields with grazing animals are truly open and fabulous, as is the sunset. The space downstairs is simply storage for the clutter of home life and not accessible to guests. Upstairs in the barn is normally used as hubby's office space/a bit of storage when not being stayed in - rustic and basic it may be, but a lovely space it certainly is - we hope you'll agree!
We are in the middle of nowhere - peaceful, secluded but utterly accessible to most of what Cornwall has to offer. 3 mins drive from Porthtowan beach, 10 mins from St Agnes (if that), close enough to get to the A30 fast but without the drone. Skinners Bottom is a hamlet in the middle of a small triangle of three villages - all with shops, pubs and post office facilities! An amazing farm shop/bakers/butchery school is just a 2 mins drive away with some say the best Cornish pasties and selection of local produce this part of Cornwall has to offer! The wild north Cornish coast awaits your hiking shoes/surfboards/bikes for adventures a'plenty!

Located on a private lane with private parking and access through a tiered garden, The Pound is a two bedroom (connected rooms) L-shaped flat. The front door leads into the lounge with bedrooms to the right. From the left a step takes you into the kitchen with the bathroom on the left.
‘The Pound’ is a quirky two bedroom (connecting rooms) log cabin flat. It also has a lounge, kitchen and bathroom and is accessed via a zig zag path leading up from a designated parking area. When we bought the house 6 years ago, The Pound was a dog grooming parlour, hence the name, which was in a very bad state. We renovated it for two of our sons to live in and a few years on, and both sons having moved out, it is now surplus to our requirements, so have decided to rent it out for you to stay in to enjoy the Cornish experience. We have tried to think of everything you would need during your stay to make it a home from home holiday. At the front of the property there is a storage box which houses recycling bags and where your bagged rubbish can be stored for collection on a Thursday evening. As we are close to the A30, which can be seen from the front of the property, there is traffic noise outside but not within the accommodation. There is a table and 4 chairs on the patio at the front of the property but as the property is surrounded by large trees there is only direct sunlight in the morning. To the left side of The Pound there is a small gate which gives access to our garden which you are more than welcome to use on sunnier days and meet our friendly Labrador, Jago. Located between Illogan, Portreath and Redruth there is easy access by road to each. Jenn's Diner is a family-run American style diner a one minute walk away. The Track is a five acre cycle facility based near Portreath and is less than 1 mile away. The Track is suitable for ALL types of mountain bikes, E-Bikes, BMX bikes and balance bikes and all ages and abilities. Kernow Hydro pool is also situated on this site. The Cornish mining town of Redruth town is a 10 minute walk away and there is easy access to all surrounding towns and villages via the public bus and train system. Redruth is home to a variety of exceptional pasty shops, individual shops, cafes, cinema/theatre and boasts the home of the famous William Murdoch, the first man to invent domestic gaslighting. His house can be visited and his invention is celebrated with Murdoch Day every year during mid June with an exciting programme of events including children’s dance and art procession, all day music and entertainment, a street market, old time fair exhibitions and a variety of live concerts and other events around the town. Redruth also hosts an annual Pasty & Mining Festival each September. The event is focussed around the town centre. The Friday is Mining Day, the Saturday is Pasty Day and the Sunday is Memorial & Fun Day. Activities on Pasty Day include cookery demonstrations and ‘make your own pasty’. Portreath is the closest beach, being only 3 miles away. With Porthtowan, Gwithian, Hayle, St Ives, St Agnes and Perranporth all a stones’ through away on the north Cornish coast. Each beach is unique boasting beautiful golden sand, cliffs and rocks with miles of coastal paths ready to be discovered with The Pound being a great location for you to relax after any expedition, however being close to the A30 there is traffic noise in the garden, but not inside the accommodation. Overlooking both Camborne and Redruth and reaching up to 738 feet above sea level is Carn Brea which is 1.8 miles away. The Carn can be seen from most high ground in Cornwall and the monument on top easily picked out. Conversely the view from the top of the Carn takes in both coasts and a good deal of the Camborne/Redruth conurbation. What is not apparent from any distance is the size of the monument, with it being a 90 foot high granite obelisk. The huge hexagonal column was erected in 1836 in memory of Francis Bassett, Lord de Dunstaville. The Bassetts where the most important mining family in the area and had lived in Tehidy for over 700 years (Tehidy is now the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall. Now managed as a Country Park, Tehidy has over 9 miles (14.5km) of paths and 250 acres of peaceful woods and lakes to explore, together with a café and a picnic area. Francis Bassett was however the first to be elevated to the nobility due to his efforts to raise an army of miners to defend the port of Plymouth from the combined Spanish and French fleets. Another legacy of the Bassett family is Carn Brea Castle. It is suggested that it started out as an Elizabethan hunting lodge, was a Victorian folly and is now a restaurant. Carn Brea also has associations with the legendary giants of Cornwall. It is said to be the home of the giant Bolster who when standing could put his other foot on top of St Agnes Beacon over 10 miles away! Cornwall's capital city Truro is 11 miles away. Truro Cathedral is located in the centre of this thriving Cornish city and wonderfully situated in the middle of the duchy of Cornwall. Designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson, it is one of only three cathedrals in the UK which has three spires. Completed in 1910 it is a magnificent example of gothic revival architecture. A must-see place to visit in Cornwall with free entry. The Bissoe Cycle Path is a coast to coast trail that links Portreath harbour 11 miles across the county to the port of Devoran on the South coast. In the 1800s, this trail was used as a mineral tramway for the copper mines around Redruth. The Eden Project (Cornish: Edenva) is a popular visitor attraction in Cornwall. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed china clay pit and is 33 miles away. The Minack is a unique theatre perched on the cliffs high above the Atlantic ocean where they hold musicals and operas every summer, together with music, comedy and story-telling events. The Minack is 27 miles away. St Michaels Mount is 17 miles away. St Michael's Mount is a tidal island in Mount's Bay, Cornwall. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water. It is managed by the National Trust, and the castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650. St Ives is classed as the dazzling jewel in Cornwall’s crown. A picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town and listed as one of TripAdvisor’s top 10 European beaches. Here you can wander through the maze of narrow cobbled streets, independent shops and fisherman’s cottages and only 17 miles away.

Portreath beach is lifeguarded during the summer and as such is popular with families. It’s also ideal for surfing, and is a popular surf spot with the locals. There are surf shops, beach shops, café’s and toilets on the beach front with other facilities including 3 pubs in the village itself. Dog’s are welcome on the beach in the off-season. Just off the beach at Portreath is the tiny island of Gull Rock. Home to a variety of bird species this is a good spot for birdwatchers if you can get a close enough view! Kayakers can experience adventurous to the east and west and to offshore islands where you can experience the views of the coastline from a different perspective, visit secluded beaches and explore caves in the cliff face.  West Cornwall Adventures are on hand to show you the ropes at kayaking, surfing and coasteering for anyone who fancies a go.  With a stream running into the sea, and a distinctive harbour, Portreath is a beautiful place to enjoy a holiday. Portreath’s first harbour was built in 1713 by mining adventurers needing a port for their minerals. The remnants of the second harbour that made Portreath a coastal port in 1760 still exist today.  Cycling If you haven’t brought your bike with you, cycle hire is available on the road to nearby Porthtowan, which means you’ve got no excuse not to take advantage of the cycling trails in the area. From The Bear house to Portreath, you can cycle The Mining Trail path that follows the old tram lines across the county from coast to coast, finishing up at Devoran resting on Restronguet Creek just a few miles from Truro Cathedral. Take a look around Just outside the door of the Besr house you have the Tehidy Country Park it has 250 acres of woodland, lakes, bridleways, cycling and nature trails with several ponds and a lake with an array of waterfowl.  Illogan Woods is adjacent to Portreath with picturesque bubbling streams and a circular walk leading to the 14th century church tower of Illogan.

Light airy room in Frogpool, a small village within easy reach of both the north & south coast & close to the Penryn Campus of the University of Exeter.
Situated in the quiet village of Frogpool, between Falmouth and Truro this house is perfect for anyone wanting to visit Cornwall, but stay a little off the beaten track & as such you own transport is definitely required in this area. There is always plenty of parking just outside. The room is fresh, and light, getting the afternoon sun, and a great place to stay as a base for those wanting to explore. There's a village pub that serves food and drink within walking distance. As well as the room we allow guests access to the bathroom, kitchen & outside areas. Guests are free to come & go as they please. We are pet friendly, we ask for a small additional charge payable on booking for your furry (or not so furry) friends. We're about a 10 minute drive from the University & 15 minutes from Falmouth which is the gateway to the beautiful Fal River which runs through an Area Of Natural Beauty. The town is famous for its creative buzz with many art galleries displaying contemporary works and venues showcasing independent films and live bands. The many reasons to visit include, the fascinating maritime heritage; the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Helford and Fal Rivers – perfect for walking and family days out; water sports; boat trips running from the pier and quay; and plenty of family friendly attractions. Falmouth is surrounded by several fantastic family friendly beaches and is known for its year round events calendar. Truro the only city in Cornwall is a 20 minute drive from us, the UK’s most Southerly city is a vibrant centre of shopping, culture and impressive architecture right in the heart of Cornwall. Centre stage is Truro Cathedral with its impressive gothic towers dominating the skyline. In its shadow, a warren of compact streets are home to an impressive array of independent traders. From boutiques to bookshops and designer interiors to delicatessens, this great little city offers a unique shopping experience. The café culture is pretty impressive too, with hip coffee houses, artisan ice creameries and cocktail bars dotted across the centre. We're also about a 25 minute from spectacular north coast beaches, Perranporth with it's 3 miles of golden sands & Chapel Porth with it's incredible cliffs & old mine workings are 2 of our favourites.
Our neighborhood is lovely, it's quiet and peaceful. Close to both the north & south coast beaches & plenty of walking. We are both mountain bikers, and there are some great trails right on our doorstep.

The Brook is equidistant from St Agnes, Porthtowan and Portreath with their stunning beaches with fabulous surf and acres of golden sand. Porthtowan (meaning cove of sand dunes) has some of the best surf in the UK. However it is sometimes not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful but there is an excellent surf school which operates from the beach. Portreath (meaning cove of sand) is a delightful village which extends both sides of a valley leading down into a little harbour and beach. West of the harbour entrance are two more beaches with golden sands that are popular with holidaymakers and surfers alike. The centre point on the Bissoe cycle trail that links the north and south coasts stretching from Devoran to Portreath. with predominantly off road mining trails passes the end of your drive - no driving required at all!.Tin - the powerhouse of Cornwall's industrial past. Oak wooded, heather topped valleys with crystal streams once throbbed with the racket of tin streaming - winning precious metals. Engine houses and stacks bear stark, romantic testament to a heritage borne of the bravery and determination of generations of miners and Bal maidens. The area of Mid Cornwall, south west from Truro and only a short drive inland from Falmouth is full of this industrial heritage. The Victorian towns of Camborne and Redruth - both produced world-class inventors and engineers. Camborne's Richard Trevithick created the world's first steam-powered road engine in 1801. His achievements are celebrated at Camborne's annual Trevithick Day celebrations in April. You can follow in the footsteps of Cornwall's 18th Century tin miners on the atmospheric tour of the Poldark Mine just north of Helston.Nearby is Stithians Lake, for fishing, sailing, sailboarding and recently the stunning wake-boarding championships. For views of the whole region take the roads to Carn Brea or Carn Marth above Camborne. From here you can see St Ives, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth and east to Clay Country. Near here is the Great Flat Lode Trail through the mines and high moors. These days, most of the mining has disappeared, but it is still a fascinating area to explore and is steeped in history. A highlight is to hire a bicycle and ride along the old mineral tramway now called the Bissoe Trail from Devoran to Portreath or the North Coast. The harbour town of Falmouth is within a short drive with a number of attractions for the visitor. There is the fascinating National Maritime Museum or you can take a boat trip around the spectacular Carrick Roads or sample the stylish Rick Stein's Fish & Chip Restaurant or Oyster Bar.The Helford River and Lizard Peninsula are also within easy reach. The city of Truro is only a 7 mile drive to the north east and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes. The resort of Newquay is about 12 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles. Harbourside towns & villages such as Fowey, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach. For those flying to Cornwall, the airport is within easy reach.

Beautiful beaches within three miles. Train/bus . Lovely double room, in friendly home. 10 miles from Truro, Which is Cornwall's capital city. Within easy reach of the gorgeous Cornish coast and attractions. Beautiful sandy beaches nearby, brilliant for surfing or just relaxing. Good restaurants and lovely Cornish Pasties available locally! We have friendly dogs but these don't have access to your private accommodation. We are friendly and will make you feel at home. and can offer advice about what to see and do locally. We can offer support as needed but will also respect your privacy. We live in a quiet avenue, near woods and three miles from a beautiful beach. Train station and small town is approximately two miles away. Bus service within five minutes walk. Double settee in room . We have dogs so room not suitable for those with dog allergies. Sadly (for us) they are now building houses in the fields behind the house. We hope this won't interrupt your stay, as they are not particularly noisy.....and your bedroom is towards the front of the bungalow.
Redruth has easy access to the wonderful miles of local coastline, amazing rural walks and gorgeous beaches. It is ten miles to the capital city of Truro. We live on a quiet avenue. Over this next year there will be building going on at the end of our back garden as bungalows are bring erected there. We have not found there to be any undue noise. We would recommend you visit St Ives which is quaint and beautiful, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth, Truro and Lands End plus some of the numerous beaches and coastline nearby. We are only five minutes from the A30 so access by car to all these places is easy.
