Appalachian Trail (McAfee Knob), Blue Ridge Highway, Smith Mountain Lake, James River, wineries, breweries, shopping are close by. 18 min to Roanoke College and 40 minutes to Virginia Tech. With miles of trails, the Bluff is a perfect place for botany or photography or plain old serenity. Note: there’s no TV, children must be supervised at all times and alcohol/tobacco/etc are not allowed on the property.

Little Gallery House Near Natural Bridge

The Little Gallery House, near Natural Bridge, is part of an old Civilian Conservation Corps Camp, then juvenile detention center, now a campground and artist community, called Thunder BRidge. There are 100 acres to explore, bordering the Jefferson National Forest, with hiking trails and just 2 miles from the James River. This would be an ideal place for family to meet if some of you want to camp and others would like a real house. There is a queen bed and a day bed.

Heron Hill 49 is a place for people who want to unplug, get away, and appreciate the quiet of country life. It’s an ideal space to relax or to work without distractions. Fiber optic internet is provided; cell service is limited. (We recommend wi-fi calling.) Guests will enjoy walking the property, following Spring Creek, and exploring the remains of an old, hand-built stone dam in the woods. Birdwatchers will find an abundance of species.
