Caduceus is Maynard Keenan's (Rock Band Tool) more expensive label. His wines consistently win awards. My French cousin and his friends were impressed with a bottle of Naga. Pricey for most. Merkin Oysteria in Old Town has the lower tier Merkin wines and phenomenal pasta from one of the best local chefs, Chris Smith. Maynard is building a new winery and restaurant on the hill above Old Town. The hill will be covered in terraced vines and will include a people mover to connect it to Old Town.

The last hospital built when the mines were operational. One person died every day on average in that era, lending the "ghost city" reputation for this incredibly unique town. The decor is reminiscent of the movie "The Shining". The most expensive suite was the operating room. Check out the old lift and switchboard in the lobby. Lots of stories of the building being haunted. They discourage joyrides on the old elevator, but I always take visitors down from the restaurant level without issue. The Asylum is the hotel restaurant and has great food. Incredible views, particularly summer sunsets. Also, the bar makes an awesome Bloody Mary.

Best access is via the Jail Trail in Old Town. Park across from BOCCE. You can access the river from our property although its limited due to private property. The open field to the north is public property (AZ State Parks land). Enter the vineyard and use the pedestrian gate where the steel fencing meets the deer fencing. Follow the path and turn left at the fork. You will pass the "mother tree" on the left. It's gigantic and over 400 years old from what we understand. Stop before you see our neighbor's no trespassing sign. Unfortunately they are unusually protective of their property and don't let anyone pass through near the river. Lastly, Native Americans inhabited areas near the Verde for centuries to include most of the small mesas nearby (e.g. Toozigoot). The hill across the river slightly to the South (right) was occupied circa 500 years ago. It is not marked in any way but can be accessed from Rocking Chair Road. You will find remnants on the east side toward the top and fragments of modest pottery. Please be respectful of the site.

Our vineyard has been a work in progress since 2017. The soils in the Verde Valley and temp swing between high and low produce fantastic wines that win awards (even in CA). Our site is challenging due to the very cool temps in the winter months. All but the two rows on the North side are Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance being Petit Verdot. We have 25 two-year old Riesling vines around the house. Fun fact, I generally prefer beer over wine but I do enjoy vino. Nesa doesn't really care for either! The shipping container structure you see in the vineyard is will be used as an optional meeting space for our LLC. We primarily specialize in team building, leadership and strategic planning facilitation and mind/body wellness. This site-based option allows us to pair professional development with our beautiful natural surroundings to maximize the experience. Go to headspaceteambuilding.com if you're interested in learning more. The W Down Cattle ranch to the south was established by the same family that still occupies it circa 1920 to support the miners. The open land directly north belongs to AZ State Parks, though there is no public access to it. The river can be accessed through this parcel. Turn left when you get close to the tree line. You can access the river immediately on the public lands, be aware you will encounter a no trespassing sign posted by our neighbors who unfortunately don't allow anyone to continue along the river through their property. As long as you stay south of the sign, you're fine.

Cottonwood is a relaxed and unpretentious small city that serves as a tourist and economic hub. Surrounded by natural beauty Cottonwood was originally established in the late 1800's to support the mining industry primarily via agriculture. Over the last 20 years, Cottonwood has gained notoriety for the blossoming AZ wine industry due to its climate and ideal soils. The City's brand is "Heart of Arizona Wine Country". Though most wine grapes in the state are gown in the Wilcox-Sonoita area, the Cottonwood region is responsible for over 80% of the AZ wine industry's economic impact within the state. The industry and influence of people like Tool singer and wine-maker Maynard Keenan continue to positively influence the City's reputation and growth. Keenan is currently building a 13 million dollar restaurant and winery above Old Town complete with a people mover to connect with Old Town and terraced vineyard.

Few places on earth that compare to the area's scenery. Access from the apt via 89. I enjoy riding my motorcycle up 89 and back via 179. Be careful doing this in reverse on Fridays or Saturdays as traffic on 179 can get very congested. Clarkdale was established by the mining company and was home to workers and management. Small but historically significant. If you notice, most of the houses are built from the same blueprint. Smell the pines. Woodchute trail runs along Mingus Mountain ridgeline about 10 minutes west of Jerome. Just past the Mingus summit rest area, turn right on Forest 104. Go left at the Y.
