"A mesa overlooking Jerome and the Verde Valley. Along the way, you'll be treated with far reaching views of most of Central Arizona." No crowds on this trail

Smell the pines. Woodchute trail runs along Mingus Mountain ridgeline about 10 minutes west of Jerome. Just past the Mingus summit rest area, turn right on Forest 104. Go left at the Y. You'll slowly make your way through campground area to the trailhead. About a mile into the hike look for a toe path that leads to an alligator pine at the base of a small hill to it's left (north). Take that trail. The views at the top of this hill are fantastic. Along the way, Prescott Valley can be seen on the other side of the mountain.
