Once a neighbourhood of Kuala Lumpur, Brickfields was soon labelled as Malaysia’s Little India and became one of the most popular places to visit in KL. You will find a wide variety of Indian stores and restaurants, run by Indians. The area welcomes you with loud Bollywood music being played by the shopkeepers as they sell everything from spices and sweets, to sarees and garlands. Gorge on Indian delicacies here, especially the South Indian fare served on banana leaves. Shops serve customers until late at night, so any time is a great time to go visit this vibrant area. Little India, as its name promises, is the centre for the Indian community of Singapore. Located at the east of Singapore River just across Chinatown and north of Kampong Glam, Little India may be regarded as a world apart from the rest of Singapore. It was originally a European enclave that eventually bloomed into an Indian cultural hub after Jewish-Indians developed a settlement and started raising cattle and trading livestock in the area.
