The best shopping is in Aix en Provence. But Sisteron does have a several charming arts shops and certainly the best of all is Le Crayon Gris, ostensibly its an artists supply shop but they have lots of other things and the best selection of postcards in the region, as well as a well stocked gallery of original art by local artists at very reasonable prices. Plus in the appartment above the main shop they have a workshop area where they hold art classes and where famously Napoleon slept on his return from Elba to Paris march. It was after his heavy lunch apparently, as he only had his siesta here. The name of the shop is Le Crayon Gris, Cecile is the owner and it is at 64 rue saunerie
