A beautiful village above Hebden Bridge on the hillside, showing the quaint style and heritage of the old weaving industry. A couple of pubs to quench your thirst after the steep climb. Visit The Cross to see the newly revealed fireplace where King David Hartley of the Cragg Vale Coiners had an “altercation” (Gallows Pole). In complete contrast visit the peaceful resting place of Sylvia Plath. There is a regular bus service if you don't fancy the climb.

Join the many who have become enchanted by this beautiful little hamlet, where Sylvia Plath is buried - just a 20 minute walk from Faun Lodge.
Historic hilltop village with stunning views of the Calder valley and historic points of interest to visit
Quaint village just behind Hebden that’s so picture perfect - would defo tag onto a visit from Hebden and you can get there via a bridle way when walking Hardcastle Craggs
Heptonstall is a memorable, ancient village full of history with it's cobbled street, weavers cottages and The Cloth Hall where goods were exchanged on the pack horsetrails. There is a church and also the ruins of the old church in the grounds, the more recent graveyard boasting the grave of the famous poet Sylvia Plath, partner of Ted Hughes our late, local Mytholmroyd poet. There's a stunning short walk on the rocky edge of Heptonstall quarry. With care! Worth it!
